Nanex ~ 30-Oct-2012 ~ Hurricane Sandy Goes Ex-Dividend
In 2012, the U.S. stock markets were close on October 29th and 30th because of Hurricane Sandy.
Unfortunately, 174 stocks that were scheduled to go ex-dividend during the two closed sessions were processed by the exchange as if trading would be open on those
days. This has the potential to
cause problems when trading resumes on October 31. The problems (if any) would show
up as incorrect net change calculations - either the previous close will not be adjusted for
the dividend amount, or it could be adjusted by twice the amount.
Download the list of
affected stocks, along with dividend amounts and the correct adjusted previous close.
